Last week ended nicely. I spend First of May going to a club up on a big hill, enjoying what might have been the last summer day. My boyfriend and I rested in the dry grass and bathed in the cold water. Then we dried in the sun, squeezed together in a sun chair. Afterwards we had rice with shellfish and black corn juice (chicha morada) for lunch. At dawn we went back to his house, going through shanty blocks and dusty roads until we came down the hill. I felt excellent since I hadn’t been out the day before, I had plans but they were cancelled last minute and I was happy to rest my dizzy mind (evil new glasses).
On Friday night I went to see a friend, enjoy a caipirinha at the Brazilian comer bar and some crazy action paintings. Ximena told me stories about when she studied in Australia and worked as a butcher. I haven’t really felt like eating meat since, which anyway is good for me. I got some good tips about painting and healthy sand flowers. I have decided to paint big next time and prepare well, take photos before and analyse the colours. Usually, I just paint intuitively without planning at all. Later on Héctor took me to a far away but nice gig in northern Lima. Glam performed British indie rock and pop covers and I had some lemonade, my natural remedy for all illnesses.
Saturday, what a lazy, nice morning...I had lunch with Sarah and Boris (my sibling cat who kind of looks like me). We cooked ají de atún, tuna in a creamy Peruvian pepper sauce. Then we went to Polvos Azules (a large market where everything is pirated). Sarah got Lacoste shirt for 25 nuevos soles each and a YSL bag really cheap, among other things. It is really hard to tell they are copies. I got a new generator for my cellar phone, afro Peruvian electronic music - Novalima, the best of Edith Piaf and la Sarita (alternative hard rock fused with peruvian folklore). Then, I could just not resist a green nice party top and a fake leopard velvet handbag. Really I just went to find some office clothes...Afterwards we went to meet Sarah’s Portuguese teacher at a Brazilian family restaurant and caipirinhas mixed themselves with live music and samba. I spend the night snuggled up watching TV with Héctor and fell asleep really early.
On Sunday Héctor and I chilled out, looked at street art, tasted sweets in the central park, had nice coffee and read interesting stories, strolling around, soaking up on afternoon tranquillity.
